The Nashville Symphony has announced the return of the 31st annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Day celebration concert, “MLK: A Celebration in Song,” at Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Tickets to the one-night event, which takes place on Sunday, Jan. 19, at 7:30 p.m., are complimentary, courtesy of a sponsorship from full-service business law firm Spencer Fane.

Led by accomplished conductor Jonathan Taylor Rush, the concert features music by the award-winning Nashville Symphony, the Celebration Chorus, the Celebration Youth Chorus, W. Crimm Singers and four-time Grammy-nominated country music artist Mickey Guyton. Ticketholders are also invited to a free pre-concert reception from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.

“This concert embodies our mission to inspire and engage the diverse and growing Nashville community with live orchestral music experiences,” says Nashville Symphony President and CEO Alan D. Valentine. “We are deeply grateful to Spencer Fane for making it possible to open our doors and welcome the community to this meaningful celebration of Dr. King’s legacy.”

The production, which blends classical, contemporary and spiritual music genres, celebrates Dr. King’s pursuit of equality and justice. Visitors can opt for the VIP Experience with Mickey Guyton, which includes an exclusive Q&A session and photo op. Proceeds from the VIP Experience benefit the Nashville Symphony’s over 300 music education and community programs throughout Middle Tennessee.

“Partnering with the Nashville Symphony to ensure that this powerful tribute to Dr. King is accessible to everyone is important to us and aligns with our mission to positively impact the communities we serve,” says Stacey Garrett Koju, partner at Spencer Fane. “We are honored to continue our tradition of supporting an event that amplifies Dr. King’s timeless message for equality.”
