Style & Beauty,
A simple, but effective method for outfit choices, nothing says opting for a piece of clothing like the celebrity stamp of approval.
TheRealReal is making that easier than ever right now.
In celebration of National Consignment Month, the world’s largest online marketplace for authenticated luxury resale has brought back its celebrity closet sale in partnership with environmental leader Conservation International. Featuring over 230 handpicked luxury items from the personal wardrobes of iconic women in fashion, film, journalism and activism, the Closet for Conservation sale aims to promote sustainability and showcase the power of the circular economy.
Each piece in the sale tells a story, having graced red carpets, fashion runways or simply been a favorite item in the stars’ personal collections. Fans of Kate Moss can grab a striking marigold pant suit from Marc Jacobs’ Spring 2020 runway collection, while fashion enthusiasts can get their hands on Julianne Moore’s chic white trench coat from The Row. Other standout items include a bubble dress by Commes des Garçons from Natasha Lyonne’s wardrobe, and Janicza Bravo’s chunky Miu Miu loafers. The pieces not only offer a chance to own luxury fashion, but also the opportunity to embody each stars’ unique sense of style.

Other participants include Emmy Rossum, Veronica Webb, Marisa Tomei, Parker Posey, Rachel Matthews, Rebecca Hall, Alexandra Richards, Chloe King, Sabine Getty, Amy Fine Collins, Lynette Nylander, Sarah Harris, Cleo Wade, Meena Harris, Paola Mendoza and Shannon Watts.
Items are priced between $50 and $3,350, allowing fashion lovers to acquire iconic pieces from top designers. The sale is now open online and at The RealReal’s Soho Boutique, providing a convenient shopping experience for those eager to invest in both high-quality fashion and environmental conservation.

The event not only highlights high-end fashion but also serves a larger environmental purpose. The RealReal will donate $25,000 to Conservation International to support the organization's efforts in protecting oceans, forests and ecosystems around the world. This collaboration emphasizes the importance of the circular economy in combating fashion waste, with a focus on extending the lifespan of luxury pieces rather than contributing to the alarming rate of textile disposal.
“Our goal is to demonstrate how vital the circular economy is in reducing fashion waste and mitigating the harmful effects the industry can have on our planet,” said Rati Sahi Levesque, President and COO of The RealReal. “It is inspiring to see so many people embracing regeneration-it’s not just about sustainability; it’s about making smarter choices that benefit us all.”
Patricia Zurita, Chief Strategy Officer at Conservation International, added, “With the average American buying 53 new clothing items a year and millions of tons of textiles sitting in U.S. landfills there’s never been a more important time to rethink our choices. Through sustainable fashion, we can reduce the impact on our planet and still feel great about how we look.”
