Another year has come and gone and with it a myriad of fashion trends, but one buyer movement is only going stronger, and that’s the turn toward pre-loved clothes, shoes and accessories over a closet full of fast fashion.
Alright, battle against throwaway clothes isn’t totally over, but eBay did see an increase in its pre-loved and refurbished goods. According to the company's 2024 Recommerce Report, 60 percent of global buyers said buying pre-loved goods had become "more important" to them this year, including 62 percent of millennial buyers and 66 percent of Gen Zers.
Of course, some brands and styles hold their value better than others, and eBay is also sharing with us the inside scoop on its most popular apparel brands, handbags, sneakers and more.

Sifting through data from January to October of this year, the numbers show Adidas standing tall above the crowd. The German brand with the three stripes saw an increase of sales by 200 percent, followed by JW Anderson’s 70 percent in a far second place. Balenciaga, Miu Miu and Loewe all tied for third with growth of 50 percent.

If you’re looking for the most popular handbags, you may be one of the millions searching for the Hermes Kelly, the Fendi Baguette, the Hermes Birkin, the Louis Vuitton Speedy or the Lady Dior. Those styles ranked highest on eBay around the world.
The Balenciaga City Bag is another big winner, though. Having been relaunched as a style this year, the bag saw an increase in global searches this September, coming in at more than 780 percent higher than the top of the year.
The Coach Brooklyn Bag also skyrocketed thanks to some celeb appearances. The accessory saw a search increase of 380 percent from July to October alone.

The hippest sneaker was the Adidas Samba, which saw a 90 percent sale increase in 2024. Followed closely behind the Puma Speedcat OG, a trend that seems to be growing with an 80 percent sale increase in the same time period.
High fashion is in, and the search terms “archival clothing” and “vintage runway” have been popping up at 100 and 70 percent increases respectively. Plus, Gen Z seems to love the Chrome Hearts brand’s rock star style, with a search increase of 115 percent this year.

One more big winner? After a TikTok trend saw Van Cleef & Arpels boosted with young shoppers. The brand sold 50 percent more in 2024 on the eBay marketplace.
Who will win in 2025? As long as pre-loved clothes and accessories continue gaining steam, fashion lovers can’t lose.
