“Every day, I look out my window and see the palm tree standing proudly as my eternal muse. Its forms and beauty embody my home’s spirit and essence, and its soulful presence has inspired this collaboration with Schumacher, translating whispers of tropical paradises into a line of wallpapers and fabrics.”–JOHANNA ORTIZ

In a magical mashup of fashion meets interior design, Schumacher (schumacher.com), the esteemed American design house, collaborates with Colombian luxury brand Johanna Ortiz (johannaortiz.com) to bring a verdant new collection to life. Launching this fall, the collection of fabrics, wallcoverings and trim weaves Ortiz’s signature palm motif into each of the 22 looks.

Drawing from the rich tapestry of Ortiz’s Colombian roots, the collection is drenched in the hues of the Amazon and textures of Andean landscapes. Designs such as Amazonas Mystique and Andean Tribute embroidery reflect the vibrant ecosystem of Ortiz’s homeland, while Tayrona Palm Mosaic and Tropical Safari portray the intricate dance of nature’s patterns. The collection spotlights a range of natural materials, including linen, sisal and raffia, and also celebrates Colombian basket-weaving techniques.
Broom tassel trim adds a textural accent
“Johanna has an uncanny way with pattern and color, creating vibrant but livable designs in the most sophisticated hues,” says Schumacher’s creative director, Dara Caponigro. “Her elegant joie de vivre comes through in every product and can work in so many environments around the world.”
