With a groovy atmosphere and a whimsical take on fine dining, the newest spot about to hit Nashville’s culinary scene is already turning heads.

Honest To Goodness Hospitality’s (Butcher & Bee) latest concept Fancypants will open in East Nashville on July 26 at 921 Dickerson Pike, helmed by founder and partner Michael Shemtov, partner and creative director Jake Mogelson and chef and partner Bryan Weaver.

Chef de cuisine Joshua Homacki, executive pastry chef Katie Fair and chef Weaver have curated a grid-style, vegetable-forward menu showcasing fresh, seasonal ingredients from the restaurant’s farm partners. The eatery’s innovative offerings include crispy turnip noodle lasagne with parmesan foam and potato chip-crusted chicken-fried cauliflower with coconut gravy. For dessert, guests can dig into nostalgic, carnival-inspired offerings like Funfetti cheesecake or opt for the interactive sundae bar.

With an advanced beverage program curated by beverage director David Norris and Mogelson, Fancypants’ libations include West Coast wines organized by pricepoint, a hyper-curated beer list and a range of classic craft cocktails that incorporate inventive ingredients.

“We’ve had a ton of fun dreaming up the menu and can’t wait to see our guests’ reactions,” says Shemtov. “Having been in the business for over two decades, I was really excited to bring something different to the scene and, together with my partners, think we’ve created something really special at Fancypants.”

Designed by acclaimed architecture firm Powell Nashville and graphics partner Made by Mode, the 2,200-square-foot space incorporates elements from its former life as a Piggly Wiggly grocery store, including industrial-age concrete and exposed trusses.

The restaurant’s vibrant atmosphere is infused with shades of burgundy, emerald green and gold, accompanied by walnut wood finishes, natural textures, velvet drapery, ‘70s-inspired patterns and warm, inviting lighting.

“Nashville is the ultimate source for design inspiration, and we found lots of treasures around the city to incorporate into the décor,” says Mogelson. “We aimed to create a space that didn’t feel fussy but still felt fancy.”

Diners can sojourn to the restaurant’s many upholstered booths and banquette tables or retreat to the chef’s counter and the covered veranda. They can also pay a visit to the open chef’s kitchen to watch the culinary magic unfold in real time.

Beginning Friday, July 26, Fancypants will be open for dinner service Thursdays through Sundays starting at 5 p.m. Reservations are now available on Resy. For more information, visit wearefancypants.com and follow @wearefancypants.
