People, Lifestyle, Entertainment,
Two of the biggest names in music are teaming up on a festive Christmas anthology, set to release Sept. 13 on MCA Records Nashville. Amy Grant and Vince Gill, the husband-and-wife duo behind countless hits and one of the greatest love stories have made their mark on the music industry—and on the holiday season. Now, the pair are set to release When I Think Of Christmas, inspired by their beloved Christmas at The Ryman annual concert series.
The album features nine remastered editions of the artists’ Yuletide favorites and two unreleased recordings, including Grant’s version of “When I Think Of Christmas” and a duet titled “Til the Season Comes Round Again.”
“I’ve recorded a lot of Christmas music over the years, and I’m excited to add two new songs to this collection, especially the song Vince and I close our Christmas concerts with, '‘Til The Season Comes Round Again,’” says Grant. “I hope these new songs find a place on playlists, whether it’s during the holiday season or all year round.”
The anthology incorporates beloved previously released tracks like Gill’s “O Holy Night” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” plus Grant’s “Tennessee Christmas” and “Breath of Heaven,” originally recorded on her Home for Christmas album, ranked one of Billboard’s Top 25 greatest holiday albums of all time.
“There’s nothing in the world that I love more than watching my girl shine, and she might shine the brightest when she does Christmas music,” says Gill. “We have shared stages together for over 30 years, and I’ve loved every note of it. I hope everyone enjoys this collection of songs and hearing Amy shine.”
The album will be available digitally, on CD, and on olive green vinyl. Additionally, the Ryman and UMG's official website will be the exclusive sellers of a limited edition apple-red vinyl.
This year’s “Christmas at The Ryman” concert series will run from Nov. 29 through Dec. 21. In past years, the pair has belted quintessential Christmas favorites like “It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “O Holy Night,” “Tennessee Christmas” and “Winter Wonderland,” and this year they’re sure to bring the holiday cheer with carols old and new.
“Christmas music is a portal to wonder and awe, to nostalgia and ‘remember when,’ to hope and how we wish it could be," says Grant. "Because we return to the same playlists year after year, those songs have become the backdrop for our collective memories of gathering, of family, of gift giving, of celebration and solitude.”
When I Think of Christmas is now available for pre-order here.
